Bruised Cervix from Deep Penetration?
I had my period first week of February (like clockwork--I am always on time)--well two weeks later (this past week) I started again! It got heavier and heavier and was nothing like my regular period. The blood was a bright red for the first few days and then became darker with small clots. It wasn't an immense amount of blood--no more than a heavy period day would be. I was still finding bright red blood every now and then--and it has lasted a full 7 days. (My regualr period is about 4 - 5 days.)
I went to the Dr. on Friday just to see what could be happening and she isn't overly concerned. She is sending me for ultrasound and recommending a gynecologist, but she thinks it may just be a fluke period--and everything will right itself (based on me being very regular and healthy.)
Anyway, my question for you guys is could there possibly have been a tear or some kind of injury related to intercourse? Can deep penetration do some damage that would make me bleed like that for a week? I only wonder due to the bright red (fresh) looking blood that was passing for most of the 7 days.
Also, could it have been a miscarriage? I had a tubal pregnancy 4 years ago--and I bled like this after--but I had pain. The only thing I have with this "occurance" is the bleeding. no cramping, or pain of any sort.
Wow--enough questions for you?
Thanks so much.

- It could be your period is outta wack, if your primary Dr didn't look down there for tears/cuts ect,,ect,, and referd you to a gyno.
unless your partner was really rough and had over 9 inches? then yeah that might be a problem but just normal intercourse .
I don't think size makes any difference 5 -6 -7- 8 even 9 inches should not make you bleed like that unless its pretty rough? you need to use a good lube/and be well aroused wet stimulated if your partner is well endowed.
tell him to not be so rough and hard/ fast.#1; Tue, 18 Dec 2007 15:08:00 GMT
Only you and he know if his penis could reach that far or if he's rough enough to bruise you. Yes, rough intercourse can cause bleeding, but definatley, you can be bruised if his penis is striking your cervix hard.

- Robbit, absolutely. Even a tampon can be hitting your cervix in any given spot and causing a problem.
I just went through something very similar myself, sans the rough sex (don't like it too rough). I was experiencing unexplained bleeding after intercourse. It would last anywhere from three to seven days. No cramping, no PMS. It started right around Thanksgiving of last year, and I was due for my annual in January, so I figured I'd give it a couple cycles to see if it cleared up on its own.
When I saw my gyno in January, I told him what had been going on with the bleeding. He said he could see how inflammed my cervix was, and he said just by him lightly touching it, it was already bleeding right there. He did a biopsy right then (not at all painful, BTW) and the diagnosis came back as cervicitis from a non-bacterial cause.
His suggestion for it to stop was to let the cervix just heal on its own, not to use tampons and to refrain from intercourse for a while (two to three weeks). That seemed to do the trick :)
I hope you can get to the gyno soon and get some answers for yourself.#3; Tue, 18 Dec 2007 15:10:00 GMT
- Thanks everyone for all your information. I just think this is very out of the ordinary for me--and will of course follow up in case it's something more serious--but I was just curious if you could bleed for that long from a possibly cut or something from intercourse.
How lucky are we to have this board!#4; Tue, 18 Dec 2007 15:11:00 GMT
